In 1961, Fairway Baptist Church was established with approximately 150 members. At that time there was only a small worship hall, a house, and a garage that served as the pastor's office. This was the same year the Rider High School opened and the southwest part of Wichita Falls was growing. Fairway became a church home to many of these families settling in this part of town, but quickly became the church family of many people from all over Wichita Falls and the surrounding areas.

In the mid to late 60s, the church facilities were expanded to include more education space and later a new sanctuary. Then in 2000, the need for even more educational, multi-purpose, and congregational space led to the another expansion: our Family Life Center, which has become a focal point for so much of what happens on our campus.

In the late 90’s and early 2000’s, Fairway led the way among Wichita Falls churches in transforming worship style and purposeful programming. During this time, our worship service transitioned from a choir-led traditional service to a contemporary style service led by our band and vocal teams--careful to never change or compromise the priority and truth of the spoken Word of God.

God has been faithful to lead Fairway through multiple building campaigns, staff changes, and various ups and downs for His glory and ultimate purpose for His family. We look forward to each tomorrow becoming a celebrated yesterday as we continue to follow God’s lead.
